About your professor

Lindita_Office.jpgDr. Lindita Camaj is an assistant professor at the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication, University of Houston. She got her PhD at the Indiana University School of Journalism, concentrating on political and international communication. Her broad teaching and research interests include journalism writing, social issues in journalism, media role in democratization, the interaction between journalism and culture, and freedom of information (FOIa) legislation.

She teaches journalism courses including COMM 4310 – Opinion Writing, COMM 4397- Data Journalism, COMM 1301 – Media and Society, COMM 4314 – Social Issues in Journalism, and COMM 4397 – Media and Electoral Campaigns. She also teaches mass communication courses in the graduate program, including COMM 6310 Mass Communication Theory and Research, COMM 6397 Media and Globalization, and COMM 7397 Media and Politics.

Her scholarly work has been awarded by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and published at the Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journalism, Global Media and Communication, International Journal of Press/Politics, Mass Communication and Society, Journal of Broadcast and Electronic Media, International Journal of Communication, International Communication Gazzete, etc.

Before entering the academia, she has worked as a journalist for multiple national and international media organizations in the Balkan region in South-eastern Europe, including Koha Ditore (the largest newspaper in Kosovo), Radio Free Europe and Institute of War and Peace Reporting. She specialized in public affairs reporting, electoral coverage, and reporting on judiciary affairs.
